Vintage 50s Springolator High Heels Shoes Bewitching Black - Come Dance with Me - A favorite of Etsy treasury creators... bewitching black and so very sexy - especially the little whisper of a snap these make from the REAL springolator band in the sole.
A prior buyer had to return these because she went by size and not by actual measurements of these heels - vintage sizing is very often smaller than today's footwear so PLEASE read the measurements if you intend to wear these rather than use them for display!
More from the collection of a petite blonde bombshell ~ purchased in the 1950s from the exclusive / high end shoe salon of Henry Waters in Portland, OR & lovingly stored in a plastic shoe box for over 50 years.
The "original" Barbie had shoes very similar... these are black nubbuck leather (short napped suede) with a gathered bow-like band of classy black faille. I had to lighten photos to show the fabulous details, but the shoes are JET BLACK. The center of the bow is accented with a black metal double horseshoe, gem-studded with tiny jet glass faceted stones.
Insoles are marked "Henry Waters Shoes of Consequence". The right pump also reads, "Springolators Pat. Pending".
Their prior owner was one of Mr. Waters' favorite clients. Even after she moved to Washington, D.C. in the early 50s, he courted her business sending her boxes of shoes to try on (and of course BUY). This is just one of many pairs of gorgeous vintage shoes from her collection... others will wait until fall to make their debut.
Date - vintage 1950s
Label - Henry Waters Shoes of Consequence
Size - I can't find it marked, but other pairs in this collection run from VINTAGE 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 and Springolators tend to be narrow.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
~ LENGTH ~ 7 7/8" from back of heel to toe tip when measured flat against a wall or 8 7/8" from toe tip & flat along the insole to the very back edge of heel using a flexible measuring tape.
~ WIDTH ~ 2 7/8" @ ball of foot & 2" across inside of heel
~ HEIGHT ~ Heels are 4" high
CONDITION: With the exception of missing 2 of the teensy rhinestones, these are in excellent condition. Insoles are pristine and sound with no cracking or rolling. The signature "springolator" elastic arch band is still nice & snappy.
Heel & face surfaces are clean and free of scratches, scuffs or wear. Light wear to soles & heel tabs (black painted leather soles still show most of their original painted color). Nubbuck leather "sueded" nap is in perfect shape overall.
Despite once being worn to nightclubs and cocktail paties, they are clean; have no odors, and are from a smoke-free home.
DELIVERY is prompt and careful. I ship same or next business day following payment and am happy to recalculate postage at cost for combined orders between both shops.
